IT careers start with an IT job
There are as many IT jobs as there are careers, each role has its own unique set of duties and responsibilities. Some roles require only a basic knowledge of Information Technology and computers in general whereas other roles are incredibly technical – certainly not for the faint of heart! These roles involve working on highly complex I.T. systems, infrastructure, and cross-platform application development. If you’re lucky, you might be pushing new technological boundaries and areas of development of the future. Whereas, others roles are required to provide proactive and reactive support. Ensuring systems stability and maintaining the status quo the business and its users are relying on.
There’s a saying from the financial sector – “Time is Money.” When mission critical systems go down the effects to the business can be immense. IT support has a clearly defined role. If the systems go down, the role of IT support is “get the systems back up, ASAP!” Fortunately, this doesn’t happen very often, but, when it does, the pressure is on. Other times, maintenance, updates, patching and applying well-tested temporary and permanent fixes, and keeping a tight lid on IT systems and data security.
Over the years, IT and development have moved over towards Internet-based technologies including mobile device convergence and remote workforce. Web development has become highly complex as new projects continue to implement easier methods of working and collaborating. Projects are driven to connect IT infrastructure, corporate databases, and applications with business systems and mobile devices. Behind every complex, IT system, teams of dedicated professionals working tirelessly to continuously improve, maintain, support and manage them.
